Beyond the Stars
During Earth’s expansion, the planets closest to Earth and with the highest habitability were targeted first for colonization. From there, expansion continued around stars and systems within easy travelling and building range that had resources and could be self-sufficient.
These planets are called Core Planets, exist solely within Human Territory, and are at most a few days travel from Earth. They’re large hubs of people and trade, usually economically stable, and well-protected. Technology is common, humans live long lives, and most aliens are permanent migrants or ambassadors. Crime is low and resources are rich, even if cities are densely populated. Many people compare the Core to the class system – the wealthiest live closer to Earth, the middle-class are in the middle, and those aspiring humans who wish to be wealthier and work under the higher-ups of the galaxy live on the outskirts.
